Bachiller

It is accessed after obtaining the Graduate in Compulsory Secondary Education. It is structured in 2 courses and you can choose between the following modalities:

  • Arts
  • Science and Technology
  • Humanities and Social Sciences

The choice of Bachiller Modality is fundamental for access to University or Vocational Training as there are priority systems for access.

If you want to know what subjects you will be taking in each Modality, go to the official website of the Ministry or of your Autonomous Community.

With a Bachiller degree you can access:

  • the University, previously carrying out the PAU,
  • the Formative Cycles of Superior Degree of Vocational Training,
  • the Formative Cycles of Superior Degree of Plastic Arts and Design,
  • the Superior Degree Sports Teachings,
  • Superior Artistic Teachings,
  • certain Public Exams.

HOW TO CHOOSE MODALITY SUBJECTS IN SPANISH BACHILLER

In the first place you should know that each Grade is attached to a branch of knowledge that in turn is linked to the core subjects with links to the modality of 2nd year of Bachiller: Mathematics II, Mathematics Applied to C.S. II, Latin II or Fundamentals of Art II.

For example:

  • Industrial Engineer. Civil Engineer, Aerospace Engineer, Biomedical Engineer, etc. –> Mode: Science (with Mathematics II)
  • Biotechnology, Biology, Physics, Mathematics, etc. –> Mode: Sciences, (with Mathematics II)
  • Medicine, Physiotherapy, Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, Psychology, etc. –> Mode: Sciences, (with Mathematics II)
  • History, Modern Languages and their Literatures, Philosophy, English Studies, etc. –> Mode: Social Sciences and Humanities, (with Latin II)
  • ADE, Tourism, Social Work, Economy, etc.–> Modality: Social Sciences and Humanities, (with Mathematics Applied to C.S. II)

It is essential that before choosing the modality of Bachiller, you have a clear idea of the professional area that interests you. This decision is very important for you and you must dedicate time and interest to it. 

IT’S ALSO IMPORTANT THAT YOU KNOW

  • how the PAU are structured and the University access system,
  • the subjects that make up the syllabus of the degree you want to study so that you can better decide which subjects to choose in 1st and 2nd grade,
  • the court note from the previous course,
  • the Higher Vocational Training Degrees that may be of interest to you and their access system,
  • other alternative options: Music, Design,…
